Wing Point Project
Primary Objective:
My clients for this project are long-time residents of Bainbridge Island who recently purchased this sizeable lot on the golf course at Wing Point. The wife is an avid gardener that wants to enjoy gardening but still connect with the rest of the family. While the husband wished to have more sitting space to be ‘in the garden’ but still enjoy a hot tub and fire pit. Our aim here is to create a lush, inviting space for family activities next to a large raised bed garden. Replace dated overgrown shrubs surrounded by a chain-link fence. Work with significant evergreen shading most of the garden and poor drainage.
Approach:
We began by creating multi-leveled flat spaces on a hill while providing a connection between levels. Collecting the excess water on the slope and directing it to a more extensive system at the bottom of the garden. Blending the couple’s requests was a challenge that turned into a fun project that continues to provide peace and enjoyment year after year.
